Vijaysar is widely used in Ayurveda as a “Rasayana”(rejuvenating) herb. The bark of Vijaysar has significant importance in Ayurveda in managing “Diabetes” and is also known as “The miracle cure for Diabetes”. It has a bitter and astringent taste and possesses antibiotic, hypoglycemic, astringent, antidiarrheal and anti-hemorrhagic properties. It is also useful in the management of boils, sores, elephantiasis, leucoderma, diarrhea, dysentery, rectalgia (pain in anus or rectum), cough and graying of hair[1-3].
