Introduction of Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER

Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER is a combination of two medicines that work in different ways to treat men with an enlarged prostate gland. It helps to relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating or needing to go to the toilet more often. It is not used to prevent prostate cancer.

Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER is a combination of two medicines: Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER1 and Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER2 which relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

In Treatment of Benign prostatic hyperplasia

When your prostate gland becomes enlarged it can cause urinary problems such as difficulty passing urine and a need to go to the toilet frequently or urgently. It can also cause urine flow to be slower. If not treated, there is a risk that your urine flow will be completely blocked. Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER is a combination of two medicines that reduces the size of your prostate by blocking the production of a hormone which causes it to grow. Additionally, it relaxes the muscles in the bladder and prostate. Together they can rapidly relieve the symptoms and make it easier for you to urinate. However, it may take up to 6 months to notice the full benefits. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed for maximum benefits.

Side effects of Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

What if you forget to take Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER?

If you miss a dose of Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER

  • You have been prescribed Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER to relieve the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
  • Take it approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
  • Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER may cause dizziness or blurring of vision. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • If you are scheduled to undergo an eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER.
  • It may cause difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection (impotence), decreased sex drive, and ejaculation disorders such as decreased amount of semen produced or decreased sperm count.
  • Do not donate blood for 6 months after taking the last dose of Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER.

No, Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER does not shrink the size of the prostate. It belongs to the alpha-blocker class of medicines. It helps in relieving symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It works by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and prostate to allow urine to flow more easily.

Can Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER cause erectile dysfunction?

No, Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER does not cause erectile dysfunction. On the contrary, it may help in improving any such condition. However, this medicine may cause painful erection (priapism) which does not go away. If priapism is not treated, you may not be able to get an erection in the future.

When should I take Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER?

Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER should be taken after meals at the same time each day. Do not cut, crush or chew the medicine, but swallow it whole with water.

Does Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER have any effect on the liver?

Extreme care should be taken if you are taking Sildenafil or Vardenafil along with Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER. The combination may cause a significant decrease in blood pressure which can be serious. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are taking these medicines.

Alfuzosin-D Tablet ER may lower your blood pressure especially when you suddenly stand up after lying down. You may feel dizzy or fainting and therefore you should get up slowly from bed or chair.
