Product introduction

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. It also removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body.

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet can be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Never skip any doses and finish a full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.

It may cause side effects like tiredness, decreased potassium level in blood, decreased blood pressure, increased creatinine level in blood, and increased uric acid level in blood. It is advised to drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine. It may cause dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is required while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding if you have ever had any problems with your blood circulation or have liver or kidney problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also increases urine output. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

Side effects of Azutan CT Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How Azutan CT Tablet works

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Azilsartan medoxomil and Chlorthalidone which lower blood pressure effectively. Azilsartan medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels.This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.

Pregnancy

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
Breast feeding

Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Driving
UNSAFE
Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you forget to take Azutan CT Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Azutan CT 40/12.5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Persistent high arterial blood pressure above 120/80 mm HG is termed as pre-hypertension or hypertension, but the point to be emphasized is that this rise in blood pressure is persistent. Transient increase in BP occurs in stress and anxiety and needs to be treated accordingly.
