Introduction of Enzochlor Tablet

Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It also helps to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. It should be taken in the morning with food to avoid frequent urination at night.

Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of an antihypertensive and a diuretic medicine

In Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also eliminates excess water from the body and increases urine output. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

Side effects of Enzochlor Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

  • Glucose intolerance
  • Sleepiness
  • Ankle swelling
  • Headache
  • Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk)
  • Tiredness

  • Decreased potassium level in blood
  • Altered blood lipid level

How to use Enzochlor Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

Breast feeding

Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving

Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

What if you forget to take Enzochlor Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Enzochlor 5mg/12.5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.
  • Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine.

Persistent high arterial blood pressure above 120/80 mm HG is termed as pre-hypertension or hypertension, but the point to be emphasized is that this rise in blood pressure is persistent. Transient increase in BP occurs in stress and anxiety and needs to be treated accordingly.
