How Kep-LS Oral Drops works

Kep LS Oral Drops is a combination of three medicines: Ambroxol, Levosalbutamol, and Guaifenesin, which relieves cough with mucus. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Together, they make breathing easier.

Kep LS Oral Drops is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Kep LS Oral Drops is recommended.
However, prolonged use may impact kidney function in your child. Discuss with your child’s doctor thoroughly before giving the medicine. It is not recommended in children with severe kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Kep LS Oral Drops should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Kep LS Oral Drops may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Discuss with your child’s doctor thoroughly in case your child has a history of allergy (hypersensitivity) or any liver problem before giving Kep LS Oral Drops.

What if I forget to give Kep LS Oral Drops to my child?

Do not panic. Unless your doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give the double dose and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.

Yes, Kep LS Oral Drops is suitable to be given to the child who is between 2 to 6 years of age. Your child’s doctor may prescribe the dose depending upon your child’s body weight.

What if my child takes too much Kep LS Oral Drops?

An overdose or a prolonged intake of Kep LS Oral Drops may cause serious side effects like seizures, rapid heart rate, excess salivation. Make sure to give this medicine to your child strictly as per the prescribed dose, time, and way. You must also ensure not to stop the medicine abruptly even if your child starts to feel better. Sudden withdrawal of this medicine may worsen your child’s condition.

My child has a severe cough. Can I give him two cough medicines together?

Do not give your child more than one cough or cold medicine at a time unless advised by your child’s doctor. In case of confusion, always consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Can I give my cough medicine to my child?

Never give your child the medicines that have been recommended for use by adults.
