Product introduction

Methimez 10 Tablet belongs to a group of medicine called anti-thyroid agents. It is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism. It reduces the amount of thyroid hormones produced by the thyroid gland.

Methimez 10 Tablet may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It can be taken in with or without food. It should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not stop taking the medicine even if you feel better unless the doctor tells you so.

Taking this medicine may cause some common side effects such as skin rash, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, paresthesia, loss of taste, loss of hair, muscle pain, headache, and drowsiness. Let your doctor know if any of these do not go away with time or worsen.

Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any problems with your liver or kidneys. You should also tell your doctor all the other medications you are taking. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using the medicine.

Breast feeding

Methimez 10 Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE

Methimez 10 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Methimez 10 Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Methimez 10 Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver

CAUTION

Methimez 10 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Methimez 10 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of liver function tests is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Quick tips

Methimez 10 Tablet is used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism.
You may have to stop taking it for a while if you are also taking radio-iodine as a treatment for your overactive thyroid.
It may affect the level of blood cells in your blood. Inform your doctor if you experience symptoms such as unexplained bruising or bleeding, sore throat, mouth ulcers, fever, or general illness.
Stop taking Methimez 10 Tablet and Inform your doctor if you develop symptoms of liver damage such as abdominal pain, loss of appetite, darkened urine or yellowing of the eyes or skin.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Hello, I've been diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism 3 years ago. I've been on medication ever since and I normally take 1 Methimez 10mg/day. Last year a doctor advised me to stop medication to check if blood levels were stable. However after 3 months of stopping medication I started getting symptoms of muscular pain, joint pains, fatigue and constipation. The blood test was not favorable and I was advised to start medication again and continue for another 18 months. It's been almost 4 months since I'm back on same medication and dosage. Everything seems fine, however I still have the symptoms of muscular pain, joint pains, fatigue and constipation. I also got my blood test done recently and everything looks under control. Attached latest blood test report. Please advise. Thanks
