tTG Antibody-IgA Tissue Transglutaminase Celiac disease
Understanding tTG Antibody-IgA Tissue Transglutaminase Celiac disease
What is tTG Antibody-IgA Tissue Transglutaminase Celiac disease?
A tissue transglutaminase IgA (tTG-IgA) test is a blood test used to diagnose celiac disease. Celiac disease results from an immune-mediated inflammatory process characterized by an unwarranted response to gluten in diet. Gluten refers to the protein found in cereals such as wheat, rye, and barley. This test is advised if you have symptoms of celiac disease such as pain in the abdomen, diarrhea, and weight loss, or if you have a family history of celiac disease. It is also done to check for treatment efficacy for celiac disease in some cases.
The tTG test is the most sensitive test for celiac disease for both kids older than 3 years as well as adults. Positive test results indicate that the patients suffer from celiac disease while negative test results indicate that the person doesn't suffer from celiac disease.
